The third stage of my immigrant-based application in the name of love(corny). In less than three weeks, my conditional green card will expire. And I just sent my application. Not ideal. Although it still within the 90-day period before my green card expires. What if it gets lost or anything. Oh well. Some of the reasons why I filed it this late is because... First, $$$. LOL, yes, money. It just so happen to be on the same period as our closing process. And we had to make sure we had enough funds to cover the closing costs on our possible house. Second, I wanted to add another proof, the homeowner's insurance policy. Yay!
Removal of Conditions (ROC) - it is the application in which you transition your status from a two-year conditional green card holder to ten-year permanent green card holder. Proving your marriage is real. Ours? Oh yeah, two wonderful kids and a future ahead of us. Still have so many projects we wanna fulfill together. Yieee! Below is my cover letter. As usual, I changed my information to something general.

Who's the petitioner? Most applicants always get confused about this one. No worries, I got confused too. Further reading on the instruction, gave me a conclusion, that It will be us - immigrants. We are the ones that file for the removal of conditions on our residency here. Our spouse will be as is in the application, SPOUSE. So don't get confuse on that one. If you do, no worries, you are not alone. But isn't that the reason why we're here for? To give idea, and look if you are not part of the Facebook visa groups or Forums, I think you should join, people there will help you answer any confusions you will come across on the process. :)
(Updated March 2021)
My ROC Timeline
April 23, 2019 - Sent my application through USPS
May 20, 2019 - They sent my application back
This was my fault. I thought I double checked everything. The reason was "payment amount was not right". Nothing is really wrong with my application with regards to documents or evidence. My mistake was I did not realize I checked the section where they ask if my son was applying with me. He wasn't, because he is a US Citizen. And because that was checked, they assumed the amount was wrong. We wrote the right amount, the form was wrong. XD I corrected the form and sent them another set of application. Because the initial application were already marked by their computer, so can't really use it. I attached the yellow paper they gave me saying that my application is just a resubmission. So, not considered late despite my green card being already expired.
May 23, 2019 - Sent my application (this time I quadruple checked it.) And they did not return it, yes!
May 31, 2019 - Received my NOA a.k.a. "The Extension Letter"
It says there, my conditional resident status has been extended for 18months from the expiration date on my green card. They send this out while my current application is still on process.
November 2019 - Received my biometrics schedule.
December 17, 2019 - Biometrics done!
October 2, 2020 - CASE WAS APPROVED!!!
October 9, 2020 - Card was delivered. After 18 long months, I received my 10-year green card in the mail. Some said they got their application took 13 months and some said 20 months. So if you are still around this window, then it probably is still normal. Nothing to worry about.
Some people would also apply for naturalization to acquire US citizenship around this time. And yes, you can apply for it at the same time you apply for Removal of Conditions. But, it was not mandatory. It is really up to you. For me though, and for a few I know, our reason for not applying for citizenship was that we paid for the 10 year green card, might as well use it for quite a while. I am not even sure yet if I am ready to give up my Filipino citizenship. It would feel like giving up on a big part of me. This is just me, please don't be mad or upset or any violent reaction. I am not saying that those who applied gave up their Filipino citizenship in just a snap! No, that's not what I'm saying, not at all. We all have our reasons. Whatever it is, it is valid. PERIODT!
Now that I won't be doing any immigration paperwork in a long run, my immigration journey will pause here. I will focus on being a wife and a mommy to my husband and kids. As well as a hobbyist and a blogger to keep my sanity.
